Sopore, May 7 (KNB): The Tarzoo side of Wular Lake is witnessing a growing influx of fishing enthusiasts, with hundreds of people from different parts of Kashmir visiting the area daily for recreational fishing and leisure activities.

Known for its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere, the Tarzoo Project at Ningli Tarzoo in Sopore has become one of the major attraction points for both local and outside tourists visiting Wular Lake. Besides sightseeing, the spot is now gaining popularity among people passionate about fishing.

Visitors from Srinagar, Ganderbal, South Kashmir and other areas can be seen spending hours along the calm waters of the lake, enjoying fishing activities amid the natural surroundings.

Speaking to Kashmir News Bureau-KNB, Ibrahim, a visitor from Ganderbal, said the area offers a peaceful environment and has become one of his favourite fishing spots.

“This place is peaceful and ideal for fishing. We also get good catch here. Fishing keeps people engaged in positive activities and away from drugs and other harmful habits,” he said.

Another visitor, Dawood, a local resident, said fishing is his passion and urged the authorities to further develop the area to boost tourism.

“I have seen hundreds of tourists visiting this place regularly. The government should develop proper infrastructure and tourism facilities here so that local youth can also benefit,” he added.

Locals believe that with better infrastructure, promotion and eco-tourism facilities, the Tarzoo side of Wular Lake can emerge as one of Kashmir’s top recreational fishing and tourist destinations. (KNB)
