Srinagar 12 March(KNB): The Hon’ble Supreme Court Collegium has put forward the name of Shri Mohammad Yousuf Wani, a judicial officer, for the position of Additional Judge at the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
A resolution passed by collegium comprising Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud along with Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai reads,
The recommendation comes after thorough consultations and positive assessments of his merit and suitability for the role.
Wani, who joined the judicial service on December 9, 1997, has a commendable track record, having served in various judicial capacities and practiced at the bar for over three years. His integrity and professional conduct have consistently been praised, as reflected in his Annual Confidential Reports and the positive opinions from consultee-judges familiar with his work.
The Collegium’s decision also took into account a representation by a senior judicial officer who was not recommended for elevation. After careful consideration of the High Court Collegium’s reasons, the Supreme Court Collegium agreed with the decision to overlook her name.
The recommendation underscores the Collegium’s confidence in Shri Wani’s abilities and his potential contribution to the judiciary of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, marking a new chapter in his distinguished legal career.(KNB)
