Summer Vacation Extended by Three Days in Kashmir, Winter Zone of Jammu; Schools to Reopen on July 23

Srinagar, July 18 (KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday extended the ongoing summer vacation by three more days for all government and recognised private schools across the Kashmir Division and Winter Zone of Jammu Division in view of the prevailing heatwave and adverse weather forecast.

According to the decision, schools, which were earlier scheduled to reopen on July 20, will now remain closed till July 22. Classes will resume on July 23, subject to any further orders issued by the government.

The extension has been announced as a precautionary measure following the continued spell of high temperatures and weather advisories issued by the Meteorological Department.

Officials said the decision has been taken keeping in view the safety and well-being of students, teachers and school staff.

The Meteorological Department has also forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall and localized flash floods in parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days.

The School Education Department has advised parents, students and school managements to remain updated through official communications and follow all government advisories. It said any further decision regarding the reopening of schools will be communicated through subsequent orders, if required. (KNB)
