Srinagar 11 January (KNB): Cold conditions persist across the valley as the temperature remains below freezing point at most places of Kashmir, with the summer capital Srinagar’s mercury continuing to hover above freezing point during the night.
As per MeT’s daily parameter register, Srinagar’s temperature last night was recorded above the freezing point at 0.2 degrees Celsius, which on a few previous nights was also recorded over sub-zero.
Unlike the temperature in Srinagar, the cold conditions continue to persist in other places of Kashmir with mercury settling last night in North Kashmir’s tourist resort Gulmarg at -10.6 degrees C and in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the temperature settled at -10.4 degrees C.
As per official data, temperatures in other parts of the valley recorded last night were as minus 0.6 degrees celsius in Qazigund, minus 1.7 degrees celsius in Kokernag and minus 0.8 degrees celsius in Konibal.
Meanwhile, temperatures recorded in Kupwara was minus 3.0 degrees celsius and minus 12.9 degrees Celsius in Leh.
However, MeT officials have already said that they are expecting a gradual rise in day temperature and dip in minimum temperature during night in J&K. (KNB)
