Srinagar 4 November (KNB): Hotel owners of District Srinagar appeal to Lt Governor, Chief Secretary, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and District Magistrate as Chairman District Disaster Management Authority (CDDMA) Srinagar to release the payment for accommodating Medical staff.

The Hotel Owners Association stated that District Magistrate, Srinagar, as Chairman DDMA, has taken over the possession of our hotels, situated in Srinagar from time to time between March 2020 and May 2020 for Hospital Medical Staff. The hotel rooms were allotted to Doctors and paramedical staff posted in different hospitals and at Srinagar Airport to attend Covid-19 pandemic duty.

Adding that right from the last 7 months, we have been providing boarding and catering/ lodging facilities to the medical staff but have not been paid a single Penney so far, although bill have been submitted.

They said that we have borrowed catering items worth Lacks of rupees from various venders/ suppliers, who are after us for releasing of their payment.

Adding that huge amount of money on account of electricity bills, laundering, cooking gas, diesel etc. has got accumulated during these months and a lot of wear and tear has taken place in our hotel rooms during this period, which needs immediate repairs.

The hotel industry has been hit adversely from July 2016 in general and from 5th August 2019 in particular, they emphasised.

Further stated that in spite of all odds we kept our hotels at the disposal of the district administration at a time when they were really in need of it to combat Covid-19 pandemic and hired extra staff for our hotels and offered them double the salary.

Hotel owners association said that our humble appeal is to kindly release our payment at the earliest to enable us to liquidate our out-standings. (KNB)
