Srinagar Attack: Two Soldiers Killed, Search Operation on

Srinagar 26 November (KNB): Two Indian Army soldiers were killed in a militant attack and the search operation to nab the attackers is in progress at HTM area of Srinagar.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau, an Army official said that militants fired indiscrimately at a Quick Reaction team of Indian Army in general area Aban Shah Chowk HMT, Khushipora Srinagar.

Being a crowded area, troops exercised restraint to avoid any civilian casualties and collateral damage, official added.

He further said that two soldiers were critically injured and were immediately shifted to the nearest medical facility. However, during the treatment they have succumbed to their injuries.

Army official also confirmed that the area has been cordoned and search operation is in progress.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police Kashmir range said that three militants carried out the attack.

“Initial reports said that three militants were travelling in a Maruti car and two of them were carrying weapons, who fired indiscriminately at the army men leaving two of them seriously wounded. Reportedly, both injured soldiers have succumbed,” IGP said.

“By evening, we will ascertain the outfit that carried out the attack,” he added. (KNB)
