Bandipora 8 July (KNB): A son, teacher by profession, allegedly killed his mother in Malangam area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Family members, while talking to news agency Kashmir News Bureau alleged that Rameel (name changed) killed his mother after getting into an argument over selling and cutting of their poplar trees.
Jeelaan (name changed), husband of the deceased woman told KNB that their son, Rameel had sold around 5 of their poplar trees for 20 thousand without his permission. “The next day the person who had bought the trees, came to our house to cut them down. I told him not to get involved as they were not meant for sale.”
“The other day that person visited again, asking Rameel to return his money, to which he (Rameel) told him to cut the poplar trees,” he said, adding, “I again didn’t allow them to do so.”
Meanwhile, “There was a minor argument going on in the neighbourhood and I went there. In the meantime, my wife advised Rameel to listen to his father and don’t cut the poplar trees,” he said, adding, “Rameel used his bare hands to slap his mother on her head 5-6 times and hit her with slippers also.”
Afterwards, they went to the concerned Police Station and a case was registered. As per Jeelan, elderly people around decided to take up the matter again tomorrow.
“As we were heading back home, my wife complained about severe pain in her head and suddenly fell unconscious,” he said.
As per the family members Afterwards she was taken to a nearby hospital and due to her head injury, she was referred to a hospital in Srinagar where she was declared dead.
As per the daughters of the deceased, whenever they visited her parental home there was always an argument going on.
One of the locals of the area told KNB that as they arrived at the spot of incident, Rameel was already beating up his father and his mother was crying in pain while laying on the ground.
“He was almost going to hit his father with a log but I somehow managed to stop him,” the local said.
Moreover, while talking to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, a police official said that the post mortem has been conducted already and only after the report is received, the actual cause of her death will come to surface.
The day this incident took place, the family came to the concerned police station and an FIR was registered, the official said.
Regarding the arrest and questioning of the accused, the official said that proper investigation will take its course. (KNB)
