Srinagar 17 October (KNB): Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) organised special financial assistance camps in various wards of the city in order to facilitate the street vendors under PM- Street vendors AtmaNirbhar Nidhi Scheme.
In the first phase of the scheme, the officials said that many camps were organised from 10 am to 2 pm in 16 wards such as, 2 camps in lalchowk, 4 in Rainawari, 5 in barbarshah, 7 in Khanyar, 9 in Madeen Sahib, 12 in Soura, 18 in Safa Kadal, 25 in HMT, 26 in Batamaloo, 29 Magarmal, 30 in Jawahar Nagar, 31 in Chanpora, 32 in Hyderpora and 34 in Pantha Chowk.
Under this scheme a loan of Rs 10,000 is being provided to street vendors as soft loans.
These Camps have been organised under the overall supervision of Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali .
Organising these camps and having interactive and awareness sessions with the street vendors will be motivating for them as much as the benefits of the scheme, Ali said.
Ali further directed the ward officers to mobilise their staff, especially tax personnels, to inform vendors to approach the concerned camps/wards to know more about the scheme.
On the occasion SMC invited officers of the banks operating in the jurisdiction of the above wards to provide the street vendors on spot, hassle free financial assistance.
Officials stated that 450 vendors were registered during the day, besides issued Letter Of Request (LOR) to Banks for 146 vendors.
SMC till date has registered 5400 vendors for financial assistance under the scheme. (KNB)
