SMC Initiates Snow Clearance In City From Early Morning: Junaid Mattu

Srinagar 04 January (KNB): Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) workers have been clearing snow from the footpaths and the roads of Srinagar city since early morning after the continuous snowfall from last day.

With the first snowfall of the year 2021, the roads of the city were being cleared by the SMC workers from yesterday on the guidance of Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali and other senior officials of the department . The department is making the major roads and bylanes fit for the commuters and vehicles, which leads to the hospitals, shrines, mosques, gurudwaras and other religious places. 

Snow accumulation on the roads due to snowfall from yesterday evening have again led the SMC workers on the job from today morning.
“Nearly 3,000 SMC field workers and multiple mech teams led by our officers have been out for snow clearance since 7 am. Hospitals, vital lanes and link roads, footpaths on priority. MED and R&B doing main roads,” tweeted Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu.

He further assured that the department’s workers will reach the interior lanes of the Srinagar city too. (KNB)
