SMC Deputes 74 Snow Clearance Machines in 74 Electoral Wards in Wake of Fresh Snowfall

Srinagar 23 January (KNB): Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday sent off 74 snow clearance machines from its transport yard that were going to be deputed in 74 electoral wards for snow clearance purposes.

A statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau said that Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu personally remained present at the site while the snow clearance vehicles were leaving for the 74 electoral wards in the city in wake of fresh snowfall.

Mayor was accompanied by Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer, Xen Mech, Chairman Public Health and Sanitation, Enforcement Officer Central, Enforcement Officers and other Corporators during the dispatching of the snow clearance machines.    

Mayor directed the concerned to immediately go for clearance of important stretches leading to hospitals, religious places, main roads and other vital destinations in the city.

He further passed on directions that all the 74 machines will be stationed at wards, so that in case of continuous heavy snowfall, the machines will be constantly put to operational mode for swift removal of snow. (KNB)
