Srinagar, March 31 (KNB): The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura has released a statement cautioning the public about certain organizations collecting donations in the name of patients requiring cardiac procedures outside of Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement highlights that SKIMS Soura regularly performs various heart procedures, including treating conditions like Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), through its Department of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery (CVTS). Patients in need of such treatments are provided with official referral letters after thorough consultation by the department.
SKIMS emphasizes that any organization aiming to assist financially challenged patients should coordinate directly with the CVTS department rather than sending patients outside the valley for treatment after collecting donations. Such actions, the statement asserts, set a wrong precedent and undermine the credibility of public institutions.-KNB
