SKIMS Celebrates Childhood Cancer Day

Srinagar 15 Feb (KNB): Department of Medical Oncology, SKIMS celebrated Childhood Cancer Day today as part of a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors, and their families. This year’s theme is “Better Survival is achievable”.

Director SKIMS & EOSG, Prof. Parvaiz Koul hailed the faculty of the department for their services and celebrated the event which he said is pivotal in creating awareness about various cancers prevalent in our society. He stressed comprehensive research in the area for better survival and said it is key in the identification of the disease and thus reducing mortality.

On the occasion, Director SKIMS also interacted with these kids and distributed goodies. Faculty Members of Department Medical Oncology briefed Director SKIMS about the functioning of the department including comprehensive treatment plans being provided to these patients.

At the event, the Paediatric Cancer Survivors participated in various recreational activities including Painting and drawing. (KNB)
