SIA Intensifies Efforts Against Narco-Smuggling Network

Srinagar 22 August(KNB): In a significant and noteworthy development, the Special Designated NIA Court in Srinagar has officially designated six members of a Narco-Terror module as proclaimed offenders. This decisive action has been taken in light of their direct involvement in cross-border narcotics trafficking, undertaken in collaboration with operatives affiliated with LeT/HM factions from the neighboring border regions.

SIA official told news agency Kashmir news bureau that, the illegal narcotics were subsequently distributed amongst younger individuals, with the resulting proceeds being channeled to support and amplify terror-related activities, thus providing a financial backbone to both LeT and HM extremist organizations.

The investigation, which stemmed from the case FIR No. 19/2022, saw the successful dismantling of a Narco Terror module by the State Investigation Agency Kashmir. A number of module members were apprehended during this operation, with particular attention given to individuals like Rubeena Nazir from Sopore and central jail detainee Ishfaq Ahmad Mir. These key figures were identified as orchestrating the narco-terror activities in collusion with handlers based in the neighboring territories. While the apprehension of six module members has already been achieved, several other individuals have been identified and are currently being actively pursued.

The Special Designated NIA Court, upon being briefed by the SIA regarding the progress of the investigation, has officially marked the following six members of the narco-terror module as proclaimed offenders:

Abdul Rashid Bhat, Son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Resident of Lakripora Padgampora, Awantipora.
Abdul Rashid Mir, Son of Mohammad Sultan Mir, Resident of Amargrah Sopore.
Sageer Ahmad Poswal, Son of Nazir Ahmad Poswal, Resident of Amrohi, Tangdhar, Karnah, Kupwara.
Iftikhar Ahmad Sheikh, Son of Abdul Lateef Sheikh, Resident of Amrohi, Tangdhar, Karnah, Kupwara.
Basharat Ahmad Poswal, Son of Mohammad Sadiq, Resident of PardaKarnah, Kupwara.
Javid Ahmad Thakkar, also known as Raja Thakkar, Son of Tasaduq Hussain Thakkar, Resident of Barhon Thanamandi Rajouri.
