Srinagar 2 August (KNB): Sub-Inspector aspirants on Friday staged a protest at the press enclave in central Kashmir’s Srinagar, demanding age relaxations.

Raising slogans of Justice and age relaxation, one of the protesters told Kashmir News Bureau, “We are all SI aspirants here and have been coming here since last one month but no one is listening to our genuine demands.”

“We have already appealed to the Government to give us age relaxation for the post (SI) but so far, from the government, there has been no response,” he said.

They further appealed to the LG J&K Manoj Sinha to give them 21-35 years of one time relaxation. “We appeal the LG Sinha to please look into it and keep the age limit to at least 21-35,” one of the protesters said.

“We do not agree with this age limit of ’18-28 years’,” he said, adding, “As we all know, no one by the age of 18 years gets graduated.”

As per the protestors, there are more than 50,000 SI aspirants, who have now become over age for the post.

“We have now become the victims of depression and everyone has been witnessing the rise in suicide rate among the youth,” he emphasized. (KNB)
