Srinagar 22 October (KNB): Several girls from Baramulla district on Friday said that they have been kept in the dark about the availing process of Mission Youth’s Tejaswini Scheme, launched by Lt Governor, J&K, Manoj Sinha for the welfare of UT’s women.
The Tejaswini Scheme, under Mission Youth, was launched this year by LG Manoj Sinha for the girls falling in the age group of 18 to 35 years and was aimed to provide financial assistance to them for starting their startups.
With the months of launching the Tejaswini Scheme, several girls told KNB that they are in a fix as they did not know how to apply for the Scheme and to whom they should approach in this regard.
Under the Tejaswini Scheme, the government would provide 5 Lakh rupees, an interest-free amount, as assistance to a girl, who has a viable idea of starting her business venture.
“I had approached Khidmat centre, Bank and even the Sarpanch of my village but everyone was unaware of the applying process for Tejaswini Scheme. If the scheme is meant for our welfare and betterment then the initial process for it should have been convenient and easily accessible but its opposite is to be seen,” said a girl from Baramulla on the basis of anonymity.
Another girl also narrated the same ordeal and said that she has been left dejected as nothing has materialised yet to avail the benefits of Tejaswini Scheme.
On contacting DC Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar regarding the issue, he in a very brief answer said that they have appointed an Additional Director Planning as Nodal Officer for Tejaswini Scheme. .
However, when KNB talked to Chairperson DDC Baramulla Safina Baig and on hearing the matter, she said that after Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to UT, a review meetings would be conducted of different departments in the district from Ist November.
She also said that there are various other schemes for the people’s welfare about which they are not aware.
“All the departments would be told to hold awareness programmes about different schemes so that deserved ones could take its benefits,” said Safina Baig. (KNB)
