Inclement Weather to Remain For Next 8-10 Hours in J&K, Significant Improvement From 24th Afternoon: MeT

Srinagar 23 October (KNB): Meteorological Department on Saturday said current inclement weather would continue to remain for next 8 to 10 hours in J&K and Ladakh and predicted a decrease in it after that.

As per MeT official, moderate rainfall has been observed over plains with light snowfall on higher reaches during the last 12 hours in J&K and Ladakh. The officials said that the current inclement weather is going to wane after the next 8-10 hours in J&K. 

However, it was also said that there would be significant improvement in weather from the 24th afternoon i.e., tomorrow and expected dry weather to remain till November 2nd.  

After raining over plains and snow over higher reaches in J&K and Ladakh, the official said that the highest rain was observed over Qazigund (58mm), Kokernag (50mm) and Banihal (48mm). 

Regarding the snow, it was said that moderate snow was also observed over Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Shopian, Zojila, Drass, Zanskar, Gurez and other higher and middle reaches. 

The weatherman also said that currently it is raining over plains of Kashmir and Jammu divisions of UT and snowing over middle and upper reaches.

In the wake of inclement weather in J&K, Traffic Police said that Mughal Road has been closed due to heavy snowfall at Peer Ki Gali area. The road connects Kashmir’s Shopian district to Jammu’s Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Earlier, Traffic police had also said that due to heavy rainfall, NH-44 was blocked at Cafeteria Morh, near Ramban. (KNB)
