Srinagar 27 Oct (KNB): Secretary to Govt. School Education Department, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, IAS took a review of the implementation of the quality component, ICT Education, Vocational Education and access components under Samagra Shiksha at Secondary & Senior Secondary level today on 27th October 2018 in Srinagar. State Project Director, Mr. Tufail Matto, Executive Engineers, State Coordinators & other Officers from the Samagra Shiksha were also present.
Sh Mattoo gave a detailed presentation on the targets achieved during 2017-18 and progress made so far in the financial year 2018-19. It was informed that 220 ICT labs in high and higher secondary schools have been made functional & additional 790 ICT labs are targeted to be made functional by the year-end making a total of 1010 ICT labs in these schools. Out of these labs, more than 150 are regularly functioning on JK Knowledge Network. Sh Sahu directed the officers to ensure setting up and functioning of targeted labs in a time-bound manner and also to imparting training to the staff for managing these labs. He also asked the SPD for early installation of Solar PV power back up in these schools for which funds have already been provided by the government.
For imparting necessary occupational skills 352 Schools in the state have been covered under Vocational Education program. In these schools, courses are offered to around 32700 students in high and higher secondary classes in trades like IT, Healthcare, Travel & Tourism, Retail, Telecommunication, Beauty and Wellness etc. Sh Sahu asked the SPD to ensure proper setting up and regular maintenance of labs in all such schools and take help of nearest ITI/Polytechnics for additional inputs with focus on the outcomes of the programme.
While reviewing Teacher’s Training program Sh Sahu asked to prepare a comprehensive training plan covering various aspects of the training such as Leadership and Management, Finance, ICT besides the major emphasis on teaching methodology and subject-specific training. Sh Mattoo informed that more than 18,000 teachers will be provided quality training to secondary level teachers/masters under various components of Samagra Siksha. Sh Sahu asked for developing a digital platform for providing the teachers with an opportunity to opt for suitable training programs for themselves out of the overall training calendar of the year.
State project Director further gave details of various students’ activities which are scheduled to be organised during the current year such as Summer Camps, Life Camps and programs for overall personality development and emotional wellbeing of the students. He gave details of proposed Talent-search program for painting to be conducted by organising competitions at the School level, District level, Divisional level and finally at the State level. Sh Mattoo further informed that around 2 lakh students will be taken to various study trips and students exchange programs within and outside the state.
The concerned Coordinators have been directed to complete all the targets in a time-bound manner in accordance with the directions given by the Administrative Secretary. (KNB)
