Doda 20 April(KNB): A school teacher in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district was arrested on Sunday for allegedly demanding sexual favors from a minor student in exchange for passing her in an internal examination.
The accused teacher, posted at the Government Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah, was taken into custody after a complaint was filed on April 16.
According to the police, the teacher sent messages to the student, seeking sexual favors in exchange for helping her gain admission to a medical college in Punjab. He allegedly claimed to have done the same with other girls and threatened the student not to disclose the matter, warning her that she would fail the internal examination if she did.
The police registered a case against the accused under various sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The arrest was made after an investigation was launched into the allegations. Further inquiry is underway.(KNB)
