School buses under Traffic Scanner in Srinagar

Srinagar 10 Aug (KNB):The jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police, on Friday conducted a special drive against school buses registered 112 challans cases for carrying more than the prescribed number of children. Vehicles with no insurance and proper documents were slapped challan to appear in court to pay fines.

Based on several complaints received by commuters regarding school buses carrying excess children and violating traffic rules, the police conducted a special drive under the supervision of Additional SP Mubasir Bukhari in Downtown area of Srinagar.

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau Additional SP Mubasir Bukhari said that the drive was mainly conducted to spread awareness among the drivers. They treat our children’s as sheep and we will not tolerate this act.”

City traffic police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards violation of road rules by bus drivers. If a driver violates rules, jumps the red light or are found guilty of rash driving, he will face legal action,” he said.

However, traffic Police has registered 112 total challans in which 31 are court challans, 69 are compound challan.

The schools who came under traffic scanner were Green Valley School, R.P School and Kashmir Harward. (KNB)
