Scamsters using identity of officer who cracked whip on cyber crime, beware

Srinagar 02 March(KNB): Duping people with fake identities might be a regular news, but faking to be the former Senior Superintendent of Police Cyber Police is a new shocker.

SSP CID Wing, Tahir Ashraf has served at a sensitive post of being SSP cyber police and cracked cases of such nature. On Wednesday, he cautioned people of beware that his identity is being used to scam people.
SSP Tahir Ashraf took to twitter to inform people of the development. He shared the screenshots of a number, claiming to be SSP Cyber Police.

“The officer is a known person as he was posted a senstive chair and cracked a whip on such cases,” said a Police officer.

Cautioning people to stay alert and aware, he said that scammers have begun faking identities of influential officers and resorting to cyber crime.

The cyber crimes have seen uptrend in recent years and people across section of society have been badly hit. Police swung into action and went after such fraudsters and has been successfully cracking the whip over such elements.

While Police has kept up the guard and launched awareness about the cyber crime world, an officer told KNB, this must make people more senstive to the issue at hand.

“Look how people use the name of Officers, doing cyber crimes, and scams and robbing people of their genuine earnings,” SSP Tahir Ashraf told KNB.

The officer has asked people to inform Police in any such case. (KNB)
