Srinagar 06 October (KNB): Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Junaid Azim Mattu on Wednesday announced on micro-blogging site twitter that a stretch of road from Haft Chinar to Jehangir Chowk would be named as Shaheed Makhan Lal Bindroo.
Mattu said that the name of the stretch would be kept as Shaheed Makhan Lal Bindroo as a tribute to his contributions towards the society.
He further said that a resolution to this effect will be formally proposed in the SMC General Council.
“The road from Haft Chinar Chowk to Jehangir Chowk (where Bindroo Medicate is located) will be named Shaheed Makhan Lal Bindroo Road as a tribute to his contributions to society. A resolution to this effect will be formally proposed in the SMC General Council,” said Mattu in a tweet.
It is pertinent to mention that Makhan Lal Bindroo was an owner of Pharmacy shop, Bindroo Medicate. He was last evening fired upon by some unknown gunmen near his shop at Iqbal Park, which resulted in his death. (KNB)
