Srinagar 14 November (KNB): With the arrival of winter in Kashmir Valley, power supply played hide-and-seek causing hardship, mental agony for people of Rajbagh, HTM, Batamaloo and other adjoining areas of Srinagar City, who already had to spend a sleepless nights due to harsh cold.
For the last fews days, our area is getting electricity for hardly 20 to 30 mins and it’s really hard to live without electricity,” said Jaffar a resident of Rajbagh.
Another resident of Batamaloo said, “Can you imagine, we are facing power cuts on daily basis and it is not just the temperature that dips down, but also these unscheduled power cuts that’s making the winter really unbearable for ordinary people here”.
Each winter, it is the same story in different parts of the valley and the only thing that the people of Kashmir opt for, to fight against the cold, is the traditional firepot (Kangri).
A resident of HMT said, “Well, the authority always makes promises to fix the power cut issue but still we have to be prepared and have bought new sets of Kangri to keep the family warm during the winter”.
When Kashmir News Bureau contacted chief engineer PDD Kashmir region Ajaz Ahmad regarding the issue, he said, “we are facing some technical problems in Raj Bagh area and our teams are working to solve issue”.
He added, “I want to assure the people that the problem will be solved within a few days”. (KNB)
