Kathua 9 July (KNB): Kathua police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling attempt at Lakhanpur area of Kathua district and rescued 15 bovines.
Officials said that in continuation to take tough action and to check the illegal activities of bovine smugglers Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today rescued 15 bovines.
Officials said that a Police team led by Inspector Sumeet Sharma SHO P/S Lakhanpur under the supervision Dy.SP DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh noticed one Truck bearing registration No. JK08B/3771 being driven by driver name not known at Maggar Khad.
As per the officials, during checking 15 Bovines i.e 11 Cows & 04 Oxen, which were loaded in the said truck, were rescued and vehicle was also seized but the driver fled away from the spot.
A case FIR No. 84/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11PCAAct has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and further investigation is going on, officials said, adding that the local of the area appreciated the work of Kathua Police. (KNB)
