Police Arrest Notorious Timber Smuggler in Bandipora’s Aloosa, Recover Huge Quantity of Illicit Forest Timber

Srinagar 02 February (KNB): Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested a notorious timber smuggler in North Kashmir Bandipora’s Aloosa area after recovering a huge quantity of illicit forest timber from his vehicle.  

Police spokesperson said that they had received a information about the movement of timber smugglers in the Aloosa area recently and after acting on the information a police party led  by I/C PP Aloosa Sub Inspector Mohmmad Mushtaq under Supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora, laid a surprise naka at Aloosa chowk. 

It was said that during the naka checking one vehicle bearing registration no JK01K-4964 was stopped and subsequently a large quantity of illicit forest timber was recovered from the vehicle. 

Police said that the notorious timber smuggler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Illahipora Aloosa has been arrested on spot and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this case an FIR under relevant sections of IPC and Forest Act has been registered in police station Bandipora. Further investigation of the case is going on, police said. (KNB)
