Police Arrest 2 Al-Badr Militants, 3 OGWs in North Kashmir’s Kupwara

Srinagar 13 April (KNB): Police on Tuesday said that they have arrested two militants and three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

SP Handwara, Sandeep Gupta, said during a press conference today that three OGWs and two militants were apprehended by the police at different places following the comprising of teams regarding the same.     

Police officials said that the three OGWs were trying to flee on the motorcycle but their attempt was foiled. He said that police recovered grenades from their possession when they were being frisked. 

He further said that the OGWs, during the interrogation, told the police about the presence of their two militant friends who had recently joined the ranks of Al-Badr. 

“Later a team was constituted in which 21 RR, 92 CRPF along with police laid the Cordon and Search. During it we arrested both the militants and recovered a pistol, magazine and some rounds from them,” said the police official. 

However, both the arrested Al-Badr militants have been identified by Police as Saleem Yousuf Rather and Iqhlaq Ahmad Sheikh, both are residents of Watergam. (KNB)
