Srinagar 24 January (KNB): Questions are being raised as to why a ‘tainted official’ is being given ‘undue favours’ while being under radar for ‘corruption’, ‘insertion in service book’, and ‘not having a valid degree’.
Officials told KNB that Noor ul Haq, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Pulwama, came under the scrutiny of a committee in 2012. It was said that his credentials after being investigated sent shockwaves.
“There is a clear case of insertions in the service book. It’s a crime and still this man is holding a prime post,” told an officer who was part of the investigation into his records.
The sports department, another official claimed, had informed the government that they cannot hold this officer as the department has to do public dealings and gives a ‘bad impression on budding sportspersons’.
“Government had issued a notification of seniority list, he is not even mentioned in the list,” Officials said, adding that the ‘fraud in service book also raised questions about his Date of Birth.’
“Despite repeated requests there is no action against him. It is not a secret in this department, everyone knows these things but who is shielding him and why, we don’t know,” a high ranking official confided.
The sports department that cultivates, trains, and provides opportunities and infrastructure to sportspersons is losing its grace among the players.
“When young ones listen to such things, they look at us as if we are all incompetent people running such a valuable department. One person’s wrongdoing has created a heavy burden on us all,” officer said.
The DO Kulgam, neither had the educational qualifications also. “The criteria among other things is that DO needs a two year PG, but he has one year degree which is not valid. Still he holds the chair,” officer complained.
There are allegations also that during Noor ul Haq’s posting in Anantnag he withdrew money meant for the contractor.
“The contracting agency filed a complaint that the money drawn against their name has never been given to them. But has gone to unknown destinations,” he said.
While posted in Ganderbal, this officer was removed because of complaints but he managed a stay order and blocked competent persons from holding important posts, an official complained. (KNB)
