Srinagar 2 November (KNB): Parvaiz Qadri will continue as the Deputy Mayor SMC after the Voting on No-Confidence motion against him fails to reach the required number.
Kashmir News Bureau reports confirmed that only 40 corporators had stepped up for the voting, though at-least 53 corporators were required to make the No-confidence motion a success, which was held at the corporate hall of SMC.
On 31 October, two councillors have moved a No-Confidence motion against the incumbent Deputy Mayor of the Corporation Parvaiz Qadri.
Two councilors Nasir Ahmad Naikoo and Danish Bhat, both from Zadibal assembly constituency, had moved the No-Confidence motion against the incumbent Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri, who is also holding the chair of acting Mayor, since Junaid Matto, the former Mayor was ousted from the post, through a similar move.
Pertinently on July 16 this year, 38 councilors of SMC had moved a No-Confidence motion against the incumbent Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri, but on Aug 26 when floor test was held, Qadri survived after 44 councilors voted in his favour, while 26 voted against him. (KNB)
