Pakistani Militant, LeT Commander Killed in Srinagar Encounter

Srinagar 29 June (KNB): In an encounter which raged in Malhoora area of Parimpora in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, two militants were killed by Government Security Forces, said Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday.

The gunfight started yesterday afternoon after Security Forces cordoned of the area in Malhoora to recover an AK 47 rifle of top LeT Commander Nadeem Abrar, who was captured and interrogated by a joint team of CRPF, Army and J&K Police.

At the time of arrest, officials said that one Pistol and hand grenades were recovered from the LeT commanders possession and during the interrogation revealed about the house, where he had hid his rifle.

As per official, the forces were closing in on the house, where Abrar claimed to hide his AK47 rifle but a holed up Pakistani militant fired upon the search parties, triggering off the gun-battle.

In the initial fire fight between security forces and the hidden militant, three CRPF personnel got injured and Abrar, who was accompanying the forces was also hit. 

Later, the encounter went on for hours despite dense darkness due to approaching night. 

However, during the morning hours, Police officials revealed that one Pakistani militant and LeT Commander were killed in the encounter.

Officials further said that two AK 47 rifles along with ammunitions were recovered from the encounter site. (KNB)
