Pahalgam’s Illegal Constructions Under Scanner: 269 Notices Issued, Says Govt

Jammu 06 March(KNB): Jammu and Kashmir government cracks down on illegal constructions in Pahalgam, issuing notices to 269 deviations in the area.

According to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also heads the Tourism Department, the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) has taken action against constructions that failed to comply with permissions issued by the Building Operations Controlling Authority (BOCA).

Notably, the majority of these deviations involve residential houses of locals and PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) constructions, which fall within the PDA’s jurisdiction.

The PDA serves as the nodal office responsible for monitoring and addressing deviations, illegal constructions, and unauthorized buildings within notified areas. Demolition drives are also carried out as needed.

The government’s move comes in response to a question raised by MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, highlighting the administration’s efforts to regulate construction activities in the region.(KNB)
