Our Troops Have Been Put on High Alert’ to Foil Infiltration Before Winter: ADG Satish Khandare

Baramulla, October 12 (KNB): The Border Security Force (BSF) has placed its troops on maximum alert and reinforced its surveillance along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir to preempt a rise in militant infiltration attempts before heavy snowfall renders the routes impassable for winter.

Additional Director General (ADG) BSF, Satish S. Khandare, speaking to reporters in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, confirmed that the force is acting on credible intelligence inputs about militants gathering at launch pads across the border, waiting for a window to cross.

“Traditionally, infiltration attempts increase before winter sets in,” ADG Khandare stated. “Keeping this in view, our troops have been put on high alert, and surveillance has been intensified all along the LoC.”

While declining to specify exact numbers, the ADG confirmed “credible inputs about renewed activity across the border.” He asserted that the security forces are fully prepared to counter the ongoing threat.
“The threat of infiltration from the neighbouring country is persistent, but our forces, including the Army and BSF, are fully alert and prepared to deal with any situation,” he added, noting that the BSF remains committed to its duties of safeguarding the nation’s borders.

ADG Khandare’s remarks were made on the sidelines of the Wular 2.0 Marathon, a community event featuring 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km races, which saw the participation of hundreds of local youth and women. The ADG explained that the marathon, in its second edition, is part of the BSF’s ongoing efforts to enhance relations with communities residing near the LoC and border areas. (KNB)
