One militant killed in Sopore encounter, Operation On

Sopore 22 Feb(KNB): A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Warpora area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore on Friday, army said.

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the warpora area of Sopore on Friday following information about the presence and movement of militants in the area.The operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired on the search party of the forces, who retaliated.

While talking to Kashmir News Bureau an army official said that “One millitant has been killed in the on going encounter and his body is yet to be recovered from the encounter site and there are some more Millitants who have taken shelter in two different houses as the fire is coming from different directions but security forces have sealed all the entry and exit points so that Millitants cannot escape and operation will be over soon added the official.

Meanwhile authorities have suspended internet services in the area and also restrictions have been imposed under 144 CRPC in view of apprehensions of law and order problem in the area.
