Srinagar 23 September (KNB): One militant was killed in an encounter in South Kashmir Kashwa village of Shopian area on Thursday morning.
As per police, the slain militant was first an OGW and later became a militant. He has been identified as Anayat Ashraf Dar, a resident of Keshwa Shopian.
The police said that Anayat also used to threaten other people in and around his village with his illegal acquired weapons. After thorough interrogation of several suspects after the attack and input from sources, a CASO was launched at village Keshwa. While laying cordon he fired upon the joint search party, as per police.
They said that all civilians in the adjoining houses to the target area were evacuated. “He was offered to surrender for the whole night, but he didn’t surrender,” said Police.
Later on, during the encounter, the militant got killed. “One pistol & ammunition were also recovered from his possession,” police added. (KNB)
