Srinagar, December 28(KNB):A militant was killed in a brief shootout with the army in Rinzipora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday morning.
As per reports, the gunfight broke out after the search party of Army’s 55 RR and SOG was fired upon by the group of militants at Rinzipora area.
Meanwhile, the killing of a militant triggered violent protests in Pulwama town , youth took to streets and hurled stones on the forces deployed in the town.
While as, the forces responded by firing tear gas, triggering further clashes.
The slain militant was identified as Ishfaq Yousf Wani son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani of Qoil village of Pulwama, of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit.(KNB)
