Srinagar 30 January (KNB): First female ‘Turf manager’ of India and eminent golf course expert, Nuzhat Gul appointed as Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council by the Government of UT J&K today.
Government has notified transfer and posting of several officials through vide order No.93–JK(GAD) of 2021, Dated:30.01.2021.
The order stated that Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, Royal Springs Golf Course, Srinagar, holding additional charge of Managing Director-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Golf Development and Management Authority and Kashmir Golf Club, is transferred and posted as Secretary, J&K Sports Council.

Nuzhat Gul is accredited with specialisation in turf and sports fields from university of Massachusetts, Amherst USA and has contributed immensely to the Golf and tourism promotion of the Valley.
She has been serving the Royal Spring Golf Course since 2002 as well as played a pivotal role in construction, maintenance, tournaments and high profile event management of the tourism.
Her posting as Secretary J&K Sports Council is seen as LG Manoj Sinha’s impetus to develop sports culture for youth in the UT.
Similarly, her contribution in promoting sports for children has been always lauded, as well as Major Sports Association has appreciated the step taken by the administration that’ll ensure promotion of sports for children takes place, as well as new life in sports infrastructure and activities in the UT is infused.
The order also stated that Rajesh Sharma, KAS, Secretary, J&K Public Service Commission, is transferred and posted as Custodian General, J&K; Suriya Jabeen, KAS, Custodian General, J&K, is transferred and posted as Additional Secretary to the Government, Tribal Affairs Department; Raj Kumar Katoch, KAS, Director, Tourism, Jammu, is transferred and posted as Secretary, J&K Public Service Commission; Naseem Javid Choudhary, KAS, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, is transferred and posted as Director, Tourism, Jammu and Bakshi Javaid Humayaun, Director, SKICC, shall hold the charge of the posts of Managing Director-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Golf Development and Management Authority, Secretary, Royal Spring Golf Course, Srinagar and Kashmir Golf Course, in addition to his own duties, till further orders.
