Northern Army Commander Alerts to Infiltration of Foreign militants via Nepal and Punjab Borders Threatening Peace in J&K

Jammu 13 Sep(KNB): Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendera  Dwivedi Warns of Foreign millitants Infiltrating via Nepal and Punjab to distrub peace in J&K.

In a press briefing today, Lieutenant General Upendera  Dwivedi, the northern army commander, issued a stern warning regarding the infiltration of foreign millitants through routes originating in Nepal and Punjab with the aim of disrupting the peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the army’s successful elimination of foreign terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri while thwarting numerous infiltration attempts.

During the briefing held in Jammu, Lt. General Dwivedi emphasized the persistent threat posed by these terrorists who are now opting to use roadways as their entry points into the region. He expressed concern about their intentions to destabilize the peaceful environment that currently prevails in Jammu and Kashmir.

Additionally, the army commander acknowledged a recent operation in which a brave soldier, alongside the army’s loyal canine, Kent, tragically lost their lives while conducting a highly effective anti-militancy operation in Rajouri. Kent, the heroic dog, played a pivotal role in saving his handlers during the mission.

In a broader context, Lt. General  Dwivedi highlighted the substantial growth in tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, noting that in 2022, 1.88 crore tourists visited the region. The administration anticipates an even greater influx, with expectations of 2.25 crore tourist arrivals this year.

However, the general raised concerns about Pakistan’s attempts to send infiltrators across the border to disrupt this burgeoning tourism industry. He assured that the army is fully committed to thwarting such nefarious efforts aimed at destabilizing the region’s peace and prosperity.(KNB)
