No Shortage of Oxygen, Medicines in J&K Says Advisor Baseer Khan

Srinagar 29 April (KNB): There is no shortage of oxygen or medicines in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Remdesivir available in sufficient and ample quantity said Advisor Baseer Khan on Thursday.

While addressing an emergency meeting at Media Complex Directorate of Information Polo View, Srinagar, Advisor Baseer Khan said that he went to south kashmir (Anantnag and Kulgam districts) and reviewed the situation there for 3-4 hours and meet people there who shared their issues with me. “After coming across all the details, there absolutely no shortage of oxygens there and neither in any other district” he asserted.

He said that in the Union Territory 20 tone of oxygen is available which is sufficient to meet any requirement. “There is no shortage of Remdesivir medicine and is available in ample quantity,” he added.

Several other medicines that were asked/demanded by the concerned officials is almost done in production and will be made available in just some time, the Advisor said.

“Media has always been supportive and I want to say that there are few people trying to create a scare and other rumors among the people about the Covid-19 situation here and we are verifying it’,” he said, adding, “Jammu and Kashmir is the best among every state/UT when it comes to handling this ongoing Covid-19 situation.”

“In fact, if anything severe comes up in the Union territory, will be swiftly dealt,” he assured.

He further announced these Helpline contact numbers 2457552, 2457543, 6006333308, through which people can reach Medical Fraternity technical personnels available through out the clock to address any complaints, queries, need of information or counselling.

He further said that one Oxygen plant will start working soon and other two, among which one is in Srinagar will be functional soon as well.

Responding to a question about the distress calls coming out of hospitals about the lack of Remdesivir, Advisor said that any queries regarding the medicine will be sorted out.

He added, that few people are deliberately trying to create scare about these matters and search to identify them is going on.

Regarding the shortage of vaccines, He said that J&K happens to be the place (UT) across the country to place a biggest order of 1.25 crore vaccines and the order has already been dispatched.

“We are committed to complete the vaccination drive as early as possible,” he added

Talking to the Media, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole said that 1600 Oxygen Supply Beds are available in 20 hospitals of Kashmir. “3.26 Cr Lt per Minute oxygen is needed to supply all these (available) beds and currently 5.43 Cr Lt is available with us.”

He assured that the in coming days this availability of beds will be increased to 2500 in next five days in Kashmir.

P K Pole further said that plenty of ventilator beds are available in Kashmir aswell and man-power to operate them is being hired.
