Srinagar 22 April (KNB): The Meteorological department on Thursday said that no rainfall is expected in the valley from tomorrow till the end of this month, with chances of rains in the afternoon in the winter capital Jammu.
The weather official in its latest update confirmed that several places in Kashmir are receiving rain at present with snowfall over higher reaches. It added that the chances of rainfall is also expected in the Jammu division by today afternoon onwards.
“From 23rd onwards the weather is most likely to remain dry in both the divisions of UT till the ending of April,” said the official.
However, the weather forecaster also said that the weather is currently clear in the whole Ladakh except Drass-Zojila axis where the weather is cloudy with light snowfall in some areas. “We are expecting the increase in cloudiness and snowfall over Drass-Zojila axis as the day progresses,” said the weather forecaster.
The forecaster further said that snowfall over higher reaches of Kashmir and Drass -Zojila areas are likely to continue till evening and added that “High probability of thunderstorm with lightning at most parts of Kashmir, Ramban-Banihal, Poonch -Rajouri areas during next few hours.”
In the meantime, as rain falls continues, Kupwara Police have established emergency helpline numbers to facilitate the general public and to avoid any untoward incident or distress.
