No blast in Paris, loud sound was due to fighter plane breaking sound barrier: Police

A loud sound resembling a major blast that was heard across Paris and its adjoining suburbs was actually caused due to a plane breaking the sound barrier, police in Paris have said.

Earlier, it was perceived that the loud sound was due to a major blast in Paris.

However, according to the Paris police, the blast that was heard in Paris and its suburbs was actually a fighter jet that had broke the sound barrier.

“A very loud noise was heard in Paris. There is no explosion. It is about a fighter plane which crossed the sound barrier. Don’t clutter up the emergency lines!” the Paris police said in a tweet soon after the sound was heard.

He sound reverberated over the entire city.

According to Reuters, eyewitnesses reported their buildings rocking and people from several central districts as well as in nearby suburbs reported hearing the blast.
