NIA Files Chargesheet Against Punjab Resident in Hizb Narco Case

Srinagar 31 July (KNB): National Investigation Agency on Friday filed chargesheet against a Narco Trafficker in Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) Narco Case RC-23/2020/NIA/DLI.

As per a statement, yesterday, NIA filed Supplementary Charge-sheet against Manpreet Singh @ Mann r/o Amritsar, Punjab before NIA Special Court, Mohali, Punjab under Section 120B, 201 and 489-C of IPC, Sections 25 (1AA) of Arms Act and sections 21 (C), 27A and 29 of NDPS in RC-23/2020/NIA/DLI.

Officials stated that the case was originally registered as case FIR No. 135/20 dated 25.04.2020 at PS Sadar, Amritsar City related to the arrest of Hilal Ahmad Shergojri and seizure of a truck and recovery of Rs. 29 lakhs from his possession.

“He was an over ground worker and a close associate of Riyaz Ahmad Naikoo, the then commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) in Kashmir, who had come to Amritsar to collect funds that were proceeds of narcotics sale, for furthering militant activities in J&K,” officials stated, adding that the NIA had re-registered the case as RC-23/2020/NIA/DLI dated 08.05.2020 and taken over the investigation.

The statement read, “Earlier NIA had filed chargesheet against 11 accused persons in the case.”

“Investigation has revealed that chargesheeted accused Manpreet Singh @ Mann is a narco trafficker and he was in close contact with other co-conspirators of the case for supply of weapons and channelising the proceeds of sale of narcotics. During search 130 live rounds of 9mm calibre of Pakistani origin were recovered from his possession,” officials said in the statement.

They added that further investigation in the case continues. (KNB)
