NIA Court Grants Bail to PDP Leader Waheed Para

Srinagar 9 January (KNB): Waheed Para, a leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was granted bail by the National Investigation Agency Court today.

A PDP spokesperson confirmed that Para, the president of the PDP’s youth wing has been granted bail by the court of NIA.

Para was summoned by the NIA a day after he had filed the nomination for the District Development Council (DDC) from his home constituency in south Kashmir’s Pulwama.

He was questioned and booked for his alleged “close links” with an accused, Irfan Shafi Mir, who was arrested along with Hizbul Mujahideen militant Naveed Babu and suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Davinder Singh earlier this year.

Pertinently, Para had won the DDC polls with a significant margin but wasn’t allowed to take the oath even via online mode. (KNB)
