Srinagar 02 February (KNB): Several NGOs along with students on Wednesday here protested against the acid attack on a 24-years-old girl in Srinagar’s Eidgah area.
The protest was held in solidarity with the acid attack victim, a girl, whose face as per medical officials was inflicted with grave injuries in the incident.
The protesting NGOs and students were heard raising slogans for the justice of the victim and the hanging of the culprit. “We are protesting against yesterday’s acid attack which is intolerable and condemnable. We do not want such an incident to happen again in Kashmir. Innocent girls often come across either acid attacks or domestic violence and we want the accused to be punished,” said one of the female protesters.
She further said that Indian Laws should be changed and amended with regard to such incidents and demanded the accused to be hanged.
Another young protesting girl also demanded the culprit to be hanged so that it serves as a “deterrent for others from committing such heinous acts.”
It is pertinent to mention that in the acid attack, Srinagar Police have arrested three accused persons. (KNB)
