Srinagar, March 24, (KNB): In a tragic turn of events, the tranquil streets of Srinagar were shattered by a fatal stabbing incident early this morning. Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, 32, a butcher by profession and a resident of Hafta Yarbal Safakadal, succumbed to his injuries after being brought to SMHS Hospital by his family members.
According to the preliminary report from the police, the altercation erupted near the victim’s residence, within the premises of a slaughterhouse. The dispute involved Irfan Ahmad Ganie, another butcher and his uncle, Nisar Ahmad Ganie. Fayaz Ahmad Ganie intervened in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but tragically he became the victim of a fatal stabbing during the scuffle.
Swift action by the authorities led to the arrest of the accused, Irfan Ahmad Ganie, who is the son of Mohd Shafi Ganie and a resident of Hafta Yarbal Safakadal. He is also the nephew of the deceased. The police acted promptly, apprehending Irfan within hours of the incident.
A case under FIR No. 29/2024 has been registered at the Safakadal Police Station, citing relevant sections of the law. The weapon used in the crime has been confiscated for forensic analysis, and medico-legal procedures are currently underway.
