A beginning of prompt greviance redressal forum says Commissioner SMC
Srinagar 20 October (KNB): With the commencement of My Town My Pride program Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) organised various programs in Srinagar City.
Principle Secretary J&K For Home Department Shaleen Kabra visited SK Park Lalchowk, where Acting Mayor Mr Parvez Ahmed Qadri, DC Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Chaudhry, Commissioner SMC Gazanfer Ali, Director Social Welfare Department Bashir Ahmed Dar was the visiting officer, Joint Commissioner Administration Syed Kasim, Joint Commissioner Works Ishtiyaq Ahmad Shah, Financial Advisor SMC Rafiq Ahmed, corporators and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The program My Town My Pride was organised at Eight places; Zadibal Higher Secondary school, Gangbaksh Park Nowhatta, Sheri Kashmir Park Lal Chowk, Nigeen Club Srinagar, Boys Higher Sec school Safa Kadal, Habba Khatoon shopping complex Parimpora, Community hall in Hyderpora.
On the occasion a massive gathering of citizens participated and put forth their grievances and several other issues related to Drainage Works, Building permissions , Birth and Death Certifications, Aadhaar issuance and other allied functions of the corporation.
Shaleen Kabra said that the primary aim of the program is to strengthen the bond between the government and the people by providing service delivery at door steps.
He along with the visiting officers at SK Park gave patient hearing to the greviances with the assurance of prompt redressal.
Every single grievance forwarded was properly recorded as well.
Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali supervised overall programs that were conducted at different places across the city by SMC.
Representatives from various line of departments including SDA, LAWDA, Commerce and Industries, PWD, PDD, Health department, ICDS, UDAC, R&B, Animal Husbandry, Youth services, Sports, Floriculture, Horticulture , Revenue departments participated in the event.
District level centre for Women Mahela Shakti Kendra others had set their stalls in the SK park to facilitate general public.
Besides citizens, some representatives from Makkah Market, Transport Association TRC, Coordination Committee Buchwara Dalgate had also put forth their issues to which Kabra swiftly responded and assured them that their issues and demands would definitely be taken to logical end through this platform.
The focus of this program is meant to remain as on-spot grievances redressal, instant delivery of services to the masses and speedy execution of people centric projects on the ground, said Kabra.
He also visited SMC central Office at KaranNagar, where the program was concluded.
Besides interacting with the public and listening to their grievances, Shaleen Kabra on the occassion gave awards and appreciation certificates to SMC officers including sanitary workers for their vital contribution in Covid-19 Pandemic and also presented Domicile certificates on the occassion.
Principal Secretary also presented Letter of Sanctions from JK bank to the street vendors and other beneficiaries to avail the benefits of various schemes presented by different departments.
Awards were also presented to Media fraternity for their support and contribution in highlighting day to day events , programs, awareness camps and other activities of Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
DC Srinagar Mr Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary and Commissioner SMC Mr Gazanfar Ali also spoke on the occassion .
Youth Services and Sports Academy distributed sports items including cricket kits , Table Tennis kits among various schools and clubs for upliftment of sports activities..
Some cultural programs including folk music , educative Nukad Naatak were performed by Feroz Culture Forum Baadipora on the occassion.
Later Principal Secretary along with DC Srinagar, Commissioner SMC and other senior officers also visited land fill site Achan where he inaugurated Septage treatment plant and also the issues of legacy waste were discussed at site.
He was informed that for the process of Bioremediation/ Biomining tenders have already been floated.
Later Mr Kabra also laid foundation of cycle track at Shivpora a stretch which goes upto Batpora.
Besides this a New block at Tibetan colony Eidgah was also inaugurated by Principal Secretary Home.
One Community Toilet Public Toilet (CTPT) at Zakura and Zanana Khana at Dargah Hazratbal was also inaugurated on the occassion.
