J&K 08 October (KNB): In a major development, elections for the number of vacant seats in the Municipal Corporation of Jammu and Srinagar likely to be held soon, Chief Electoral Officer(J&K) notified.
In an order, dated 7-10-2020, Hirdesh Kumar (IAS) Chief Electoral Officer J&K, delegated the powers to appoint Returning Officers/Assistant Returning Officers for the conduction of elections to the Municipal Corporation in Jammu and Srinagar.
Last time the polls were held in the month of October 2018, a direct contest between the BJP and the Congress was witnessed, as the major regional political parties —National Conference(NC) and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)— boycotted the election. (KNB)
