Srinagar 06 October (KNB): Residents of Saleh Galwan Kadal area of Srinagar’s Nawabazar on Wednesday said that their long-pending demand for installation of 100 KVA transformer has been not fulfilled by the PDD department despite an estimation for the transformer made in February this year by a concerned official.
Several locals residing at the tail end of the Saleh Galwan kadal area of Nawabazar told Kashmir News Bureau that they have been waiting from around nine months for a transformer to be installed in the area but the concerned officials are playing dilly-dally tactics since then.
The residents said that they are presently getting electricity from another overwhelmed transformer, causing inconveniences, as it provides them with a low power supply. “We barely get our phones recharged and have to face a lot of trouble due to the low voltage we currently are provided. The problem even gets worse in the winter times when the transformer gets overloaded and buckles under it,” said a local.
“If we would have been provided by the transformer, for which we have already apprised the concerned official, the problems faced by us might have been mitigated. But there is not anything done till now given that we were promised that 100 KVA transformer would be installed in the area,” he said.
They further said that on 2nd February of this year, the office of the Assistant Executive Engineer Sub Division Pathermasjid wrote in letter to the Executive Engineer, Electric Division 3rd, Shereenbagh, Srinagar for creation of a 100 KVA transformer at Nawabazar. But, as per locals, they have not been provided with the same.
However, the residents appealed to the concerned PDD officials, looking after the area, to provide them with the transformer forthwith so that their power woes would lessen before the upcoming winter season.
On contacting the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer PDD of the area regarding the issue, he said that the estimation for the transformer was made and even sent forth to the Chief Engineer’s office for clearance and might have stuck there due to some hitch in a process.
However, AEE also assured that he would send another reminder to the office for installation of the transformer in the area. (KNB)
