Model AWCs to be developed with all modern facilities under each Project of ICDS Bandipora : DC Bandipora

Bandipora June 06(KNB): Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmed today reviewed working of ICDS,ICPS and Social Welfare Department in a meeting held in Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat, Bandipora.

The meeting was attended by District Programme Officer ICDS Bandipora Mohd. Ashraf Hakak, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer/DCPO Ubaid ul khazir, CDPOs of Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin besides officials of ICPS,MSK and OSC.

The meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to Social welfare and ICDS,ICPS and schemes pertaining to these departments.

The meeting also discussed functioning of Anganwadi centres (AWCs) and adoption of new techniques to attract and enroll more children in AWCs.

At the Outset, the DSWO Ubaid ul khazir gave a detailed presentation of the functioning of the Social Welfare Department in the district. He gave a detailed account of the status of central and UT schemes including NSAP, ISSS, NFBS, SMAS, PMAGY, ADIP, BBBP, SCA and others.

He informed that the department achieved 99.6% saturation in Old Age Pension scheme and 96.7% achievement in ISSS-WID(Widows/women in Distress) while in ISSS-PCP (Pension for Physically Challenged ) Bandipora district has achieved 99.3% saturation.

DSWO also apprised the chair regarding the activities carried out by One Stop Centre (OSC) and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK).

District Programme Officer ICDS Mohd Ashraf Hakak gave details about the activities undertaken under various schemes like Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Poshan Abhiyan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), immunization, and Pre-school Education.

It was given out that Bandipora has 806 functional Aaganwari Centres (AWCs) in 04 ICDS projects and 27285 beneficeries were registered for the year 2022-23.

He said, ICDS has launched “Early Childhood Care and Education” (ECCE) curriculum Nanhe Kadam for which first level training of supervisors was held besides distribution of ECCE curriculum to AWCs.

Speaking on the occassion Deputy Commissioner,Bandipora Dr. Owais stressed upon the officers to ensure effective implementation of all schemes in a focused way to achieve the desired objectives.

He asked the concerned to identify and develop Aaganwari centres from each project of ICDS Bandipora as Model AWCs with all modern facilities.

He instructed the concerned to provide modern facilities in AWCs to attract children and thereby enhancing the roll in AWCs.

Dr. Owais further stressed for holding mass awareness programmes about various schemes of the Social Welfare, ICDS and services provided by ICPS,OSC and MSK.

He called for convergence and inter-departmental coordination in order to conduct awareness programmes and to ensure implementation of various schemes effectively.(KNB)
