MLA Sonwar Ashraf Mir Aghast at Lack of Arrangements in Muharram

Srinagar 18 September (KNB):Former Minister and MLA Sonwar Mohammad Ashraf Mir today hit out at the government for ‘failing’ to make arrangements in the holy month of Muharram.

While talking with Kashmir News Bureau over phone, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, said, “With Muharram already into its 8th day, you don’t see any arrangements made so far by the government”.

MLA Ashraf also said, “It has been a tradition in Kashmir during the sacred month of Muharram that all necessary arrangements were being made by the government and a separate budget would be allocated for the same. But this time, we don’t see anything happening on ground”.

Ashraf also expressed his anger over the restrictions imposed in areas of Srinagar on Wednesday to prevent 8th Muharram processions.

“Barring religious processions is against the right to freedom of religion,” he said.(KNB)
