Militant Killed in Srinagar Encounter Was Assigned to Carry Out Fidayeen Attack: IGP-K

Srinagar 12 November (KNB): Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Friday said that the militant killed yesterday evening in Srinagar’s Bemina was assigned to carry out fidayeen attack. 

IGP-K was quoted by police saying that the militant killed in Bemina yesterday was assigned with carrying out a fidayeen attack and was a relative of one of the accused of Lethpora militant attack. 

The slain militant has been identified as Aamir Riyaz of Khrew, Pulwama and was affiliated with proscribed militant outfit Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind, as per IGP-K.

Regarding the Kulgam encounter which started yesterday afternoon, Kumar said that one more militant was killed in the encounter. 

Two militants have been killed by forces in Kulgam gunfight as one of them could not sustain for more after the starting of operation yesterday and was confirmed to have been killed by police immediately after the operation commenced.

However, militants killed in the Kulgam encounter have been identified as Shiraz Molvi & Yawar Bhat. IGP-K said that Movli was District Commander of HM. 

“Shiraz has been active since 2016 & was involved in recruiting innocent youth into militant ranks & several civilian killings. A big success for us,” said IGP-K. (KNB)
