Srinagar 08 October (KNB): One militant was killed by police in a shootout on Friday late evening in Srinagar’s Natipora area near post office, as per police.
Police said that the militants fired upon Srinagar police and the same was retaliated from the other end, which ensued in the gunfight.
In the shootout, one militant has been killed, whereas the other one is said to have escaped from the spot.
Police further said that they have recovered arms and ammunition and the slain militant has been identified as Aqib Bashir Kumar of Trenz Shopian affiliated with proscribed militant outfit LeT.
The shootout comes in Srinagar when the district has already seen a spree of civilian killings and the consequent scaling up of the security. (KNB)
