MeT Issues Weather Warning in J&K From 18th to 21st July

Srinagar 17 July (KNB): Meteorological Department on Saturday issued weather warning across the Union Territory and said that heavy rain and thunderstorms with lighting is most likely to take place across the two regions from 18th to 21st July.

In a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, MeT said that Lower and Middle level tropospheric winds from north Arabian sea is most likely to interact with Easterly Winds (from Bay of Bengal) from 18th to 21st July.

The system is most likely to cause widespread Heavy to Very Heavy Rain, Thunder with lightning at most places of Jammu mainly in Pirpanjal Range and plains of Jammu division from 19th to 21st and Moderate to Heavy Rain/ Thunder with lightning in many places of Kashmir division during the said period.

Moreover, regarding the probable impacts due to the forecasted weather, MeT said that there is a moderate to High risk of flash flood in J&K. Temporary disruption of surface traffic mainly on Jammu-Srinagar, Srinagar-Leh, Doda-Kishtawar, Mughal Road from 19th to 21st July 2021.

MeT said that there is going to be landslides and shooting stones at vulnerable places. Water logging and minor floods over low lying areas as well as suspension of agricultural and horticultural operations during the mentioned period. (KNB)
